Gravity's Garden
mit Elizabeth Ward
Beschreibung
The class will work with plant imagery mixed with anatomical explorations before practicing some basic ballet together. Let’s drop the sometimes serious nature of gravity (and ballet) to focus on our relationship to ground. Let’s play with re-discovering gravity in our dancing like a plant growing roots and rhizomes and perhaps with a few epiphytes (air plants) in the room! Elizabeth Ward is a Vienna based choreographer and performer and occasional Outside Eye. Her work explores the collective histories of dance lineages accumulated in a dancer’s muscle memory as a living archaeology. As a performer, she has collaborated and participated in the works of Frédéric Gies, Michikazu Matsune, Manuel Pelmuș, DD Dorvillier, Miguel Gutierrez, Jennifer Lacey, Philipp Gehmacher, Veza Fernández, and Anne Juren, among others. Her work has been shown in NYC at Danspace, Movement Research at Judson Church, AUNTS, the Chocolate Factory, and the Kitchen and in Austria through brut, WUK, TQW, Wiener Festwochen, ImPulsTanz, and steirischer herbst. In April 2026 her latest work it doesn’t go without saying (and other gossips,) made in collaboration with Alix Eynaudi, will premiere at Tanzquartier Wien.
